Posting Pictures

Preparing pictures to be the correct size to upload

To upload pictures they must be a .jpg, .gif, or .bmp file and must be less than 300 kb in size. If you do not have a program that can change the size of a picture we recommend a free program designed by Google call Picasa. Please follow the directions below to learn how to download the program and use it to change the size of your pictures.

  1. Go to www.picasa.com
  2. Click the “Free Download” button on the top right of the screen
  3. A prompt box might appear saying “Do you want to save or run this file?” Click the “run” button. The program will download and install on your computer.
  4. Once your pictures are uploaded on Picasa select the picture or folder of pictures that you want to upload onto the Alumni Cougars’ Den.
  5. On the Right side of the folder toolbar bar click the “Actions” button.
  6. Under “Actions” scroll down and click on the “Make a Webpage” button
  7. Select the size you want your picture to be (We recommend 640 pixels because it’s not too big and not too small, kind of like a 4x6 picture)
  8. Under “Enter the title you want to appear at the top of the web page” create a folder name
  9. Under “Select a folder in which to save the Web pages and pictures” if you want to change the deflaut click “Browse” (just remember where you’re selecting your folder because you will need to be able to find it for later steps).
  10. Click the “next button”
  11. Select “Template 1, 2-page grey background” and click finish
  12. The files will be exported and an Internet Explorer window will open with your pictures. Close the Internet Explorer window.

Uploading pictures onto the Alumni Cougars’ Den

  1. Next login to the Alumni Cougars’ Den, www.apualumni.com/login
  2. Click on the “My Photos” button on the top tool bar
  3. Enter a name under “Create a New Photo Album” and click the “add” button
  4. Click “Manage Album” button under the folder you just created
  5. Click the “Manage Photos” button
  6. Click the “Browse” button
  7. Find the location of the folder that you titled and exported from Picasa from step 9
  8. Open the folder from step 20
  9. Open the “images” folder
  10. Select the picture you wish to upload onto your profile page and click “Open”
  11. Click the “Upload” button
  12. Add a caption if you wish
  13. Click the “Finish” button
  14. For additional pictures repeat steps 18 through 25
