Mission
BLACKOUT is more than just a casual, APU hangout joint for a Tuesday or Saturday night. It's an outlet for our school pride. It's our black-shirt clad megaphone to the rest of the college sports scene that we're the NAIA's version of the "Cameron Crazies" or "6th man club." We've played the Utah Utes, destroyed the San Jose State Spartans, stood up to the Pepperdine Waves and thrashed the San Diego Toreros.
I'm sure our archrival Biola understands it's fun and games, despite the "burn the barn" chants, banner-swiping, "Think Choke" signs, dancing on the eagle logo and dressing up their campus mural. A BLACKOUT section, with cunning chants and unified noise, always brings one element you never get tired of at a game: goosebumps. - Mike Benton '04 |
