Lifetime Email Forwarding

What is lifetime email?

Lifetime email is an email FORWARDING service. Your APU lifetime email account will forward all email to your personal email account. Lifetime email is NOT an email account; it does not store messages for you to read and reply to.

Any email sent to YOURNAME@alumni.apu.edu will be forwarded to the personal email account that you have listed in your contact information on the Cougars' Den.  You can find the email address you have entered in the contact information by logging in, clicking the "My Account" button located under the APU Logo at the top of every page, and scrolling Home Contact Information.

Why use lifetime email?

Lifetime email gives you a permanent email address. Since this email will never change, you can give out one email address to everyone. If you move to a new employer or change internet service providers (ISP) at your home, just come back here and change your email once with us by clicking the My Account button on the top toolbar located under the APU logo on all Cougars' Den pages. Email sent to your lifetime APU email address will then be automatically forwarded to your new email account.

Email forwarding address: YOURNAME@alumni.apu.edu

Personal email account: yourname@hotmail.com

All email messages sent to YOURNAME@alumni.apu.edu are automatically forwarded to your personal email account at yourname@hotmail.com.

What is my lifetime email address?

Your official lifetime email address will be in this format: yourname@alumni.apu.edu. You can set your address up by click the My Account button on the top toolbar located under the APU logo on all Cougars' Den pages.

How do I request a lifetime email address?

Please login to the Cougars' Den.  Contact the Alumni Office if you need your PIN number at alumni@apu.edu.  If it is your First Time logging in you can create your email forwarding address under the Email Forwarding section when filing out your alumni profile. 

If you are already a member and have logged in with your username and password please click the My Account button on the top toolbar under the APU Logo, scroll down to the Email Forwarding section in your "My Account" (alumni profile) page, and enter an email address that is easy for you to remember and tell other people.

Will I be able to send email from this address?

No, you will continue to send email from your personal email account. Any email you send will display your current email address. However, many email programs allow you to display a different return address on your messages than the actual sending address. If you set your return address to your APU email address, then when someone hits "reply" to your message, their response will be sent to you via your email forwarding account. This is one way to maintain a single email identity for all your communications.

Will my lifetime email account allow me to forward mail to multiple email addresses?

No. You must choose one address for all your forwarded mail.

Does APU screen messages sent to email forwading accounts?

APU does not filter any email that is sent to forwarding accounts; all email is simply forwarded to your regular account. No one at APU will see e-mails sent to you, and the messages will not be stored in our files. APU does not filter out junk messages and cannot be responsible for the content of messages that are forwarded. Messages which contain attachments (no larger than 100 MB) are able to be sent to e-mail forwarding accounts.

How do I change the address to which my email is forwarded?

Please click the "My Account" button on the top tool bar underneath the APU logo.  Then scroll down to your Home Contact Information section and update your email address.
